2.1 Genetic Causes

2.1.1 Mutation.

2.1.2 Genetic Engineering.

Mutation: Mutation is a natural phenomena in which genetic structure of a plant is changed.

Genetic Engineering: Genetic engineering is an artificial work in which genetic sequence of a living plant is altered using a vector. In genetic engineering, undesired part of a DNA is cut and replaced with desired traits.

Hormonal Imbalance: Cytokinin, auxin, gibberellin, ABA are plant hormones. They have different role in overall plant growth. The hormonal imbalance inside a plant causes abnormal growth in plants, which sometime results in dwarfism of plants.

Disease: Plant disease are cause of death of different species of plants. Many species of plants are sensitive to these diseases, some are resistant and some are semi resistant.

A plant becomes weak after fighting with these diseases, but manages somehow to survive. This plant can be trained into a bonsai.

Insect-pests: Insect-pests are another reason of abnormal growth and development of a plant. Once spotted, these underdeveloped plants can be transformed into a bonsai.

Climate: Factors of climate play important roll in making naturally blunted plants (some species of plants). This includes- high temperature, very low temperature, scarcity of water etc.

Soil: Problematic types of soils (ecological regions) are very ideal place to search for a naturally underdeveloped plants. Naturally stunted plants can be seen growing on the surface or crack of a big rock.
