How to apply for kcc?‘ is a common question among the farmers in India. Eligible farmers can apply before or during major cropping season.

What is kcc or Kisan Credit Card‘? To know this read previous article about kcc which is different from KCC or Kisan Call Centre.

KCC stands for ‘Kisan Credit Card’. Through kcc or kisan credit card, the Indian farmers can get loan for their farming activities from major banks in India such as apex and gramin bank. The scheme has been launched by the government only for the Indian framers active in different agricultural activities such as crop production, vegetable farming, fish farming and dairy farming.

In this post, we are going to know about the step by step process of applying for the loan through kcc.

KCC Loan can be applied by the farmers approaching different banks in India as well as cooperative society. Farmers can directly go to bank or they can apply it through different government departments.

Here is the list of Government Departments related with farmers and kcc loan:

  • Department of agriculture.
  • Department of horticulture.
  • Department of veterinary or animal husbandry.
  • Department of fisheries.

2. Procedure of Application Through Different Government Departments

2.1 Department of Agriculture

Related Department: Department of agriculture, cooperative society, bank  (Apex bank, gramin bank etc.)

Contact Person:

Department of agriculture: Rural Agriculture Extension Officer (RAEO). Agriculture Development Officer (ADO). Senior Agriculture Development Officer (SADO).

Procedure

Step 01:
  • Go to Patwari (पटवारी).
  • Ask him to make changes in record.
  • The update will be done online by him. After the update, B-1 will show available source of irrigation water and the name of crop (agricultural crops), which woulf be taken as next crop.
Step 02:
  • After updation go to the department of agriculture. Ask them for application form (application form will be different from other department).
  • Fill the form.
  • Attach necessary documents along with application form.
  • They will approve and certify.
Step 03:
  • Go to bank: Always go with gramin bank or apex bank. SBI doesn’t seem to intrested helping farmers.
  • Meet with bank manager. After varification, if found eligible, manager will aprove your application.
  • Or go to cooperative society. Meet with  manager of cooperative society. He will verify your eligiblity.

Note: Fast and stunt loan approval is possible with cooperative society.

2.2 Department of Horticulture

Related Department: Department of horticulture, cooperative society, bank  (Apex bank, gramin bank etc.)

Contact Person:

Department of Horticulture: Rural Horticulture Extension Officer (RHEO) . Horticulture Development Officer (HDO). Senior Horticulture Development Officer (SHDO).

Procedure

Step 01:
  • Go to Patwari (पटवारी) or Revenue Inspector (RI).
  • Ask him/her to make changes in record as said by the related department.
  • The update will be done online. After the update, B-1 will show available source of irrigation water and the name of crop (horticultural crops), which would be shown as next crop by the farmer at fixed site as mentioned in B-1.
Step 02:
  • After updation (it will take few days to appear in B-1) go to the department of horticulture. Ask them for application form (application form will be different from other department). Sometimes, no application form is required.
  • Fill the form if available.
  • Attach necessary documents along with application form.
  • They will certify and approve it.
Step 03:
  • Go to bank: Go to related bank. We are saying it again- “don’t choose SBI”.
  • Meet with bank manager. Show him all recommendation and necessary documents. After the varification of all documents and the previous record, if found eligible, manager will aprove application with bank’s terms and conditions.
  • Second option will remain same. Go to cooperative society. Meet with  manager of cooperative society. He will verify your all documents and eligibility criteria.

Note: Fast and stunt loan approval is possible with cooperative society.

2.3 Department of Veterinary or Animal Husbandry

Related Department: Department of veterinary, cooperative society, bank (apex bank).

Contact Person:

Department of veterinary: Assistant Veterinary Field Officer (AVFO). Veterinary Field Officer (VFO). Block Veterinary Officer.

Cooperative Society: Manager, cooperative society.

Procedure

Step 01:
  1. Go to cooperative society:

1.1. Go to cooperative society.
1.2. Meet with manager.
1.3. Present him/her all necessary documents ask by him/her.

Step 02:

2.1 Now go to apex bank to open an account with them.

2.2. After getting bank account, go to cooperative society.

Step 03: Get project report
  • Contact Veterinary Officer: Now go to department of veterinary and contact with veterinary officer. They will verify and make a project report if they find …..
    Project reports are made for cows and buffaloes. Farmers can get more amount of loan with project on buffalo.
  • Submit all necessary documents.
  • Complete all necessary formalities asked by them.
  • They will present a complete project report.
Step 04:

4.1. Now go back to bank.

4.2. Submit project report.

2.4 Department of Fisheries

Related Department: Department of fisheries, bank  (Apex bank, gramin bank etc.)

Contact Person:

Department of fisheries: Assistant fisheries Officer. Block Fisheries Officer.

Procedure

  • Collect necessary documents.
  • Go to department of fisheries.
  • Meet with fisheries officer.
  • Ask them for application form.
  • They will verify your eligibility criteria.
  • If everything right, they will approve your application.

3. Frequently Asked Questions

Question 01. How easy is it to get kcc loan from the Indian banks?

Answer: Getting kcc loan is not an easy task. Applications of farmers may be rejected by the bank officials citing very small reason. These include:

  • Incomplete documents.
  • The current financial situation of the farmer.
  • Many times they don’t believe on new customers.

To overcome these problems, farmers should apply for kcc loan through related government department.

Question 02. Do farmers need ‘no-dues’ to be cleared from other banks?

Answer: No-dues are required for banks like SBI and other big banks. For cooperative societies, generally it is not required.

Question 03. What is the interest rate farmers have to pay against kcc loan?

Answer: Generally, it is interest free for the whole cropping season which lasts for 4 months. After the harvesting of the crop, it is 4%. In many Indian states for a particular region, it is free of interest.

Interest rate can vary bank to bank and state to state.

Question 04. How much loan can a farmer get from bank or cooperative society for one acre of agricultural land?

Answer: The amount of loan depends on the categories of crops. Generally, horticultural farmers get more about of loan for the per acre of land. It is 1 lakh to 2 lakh based on crop. Loan amount for agricultural crops is lower than the horticultural crops.

A farm owner can get more amount of loan through department of veterinary if he is interested in dairy farming.

Question 05. Can we apply for kcc loan manually through online process?

Answer: No, as we know, you can’t apply for kcc loan manually through online process. Only, related banks are authorised for this.
